Stephan Kesting's Martial Art Background, Rankings and Certifications

Stephan Kesting's Competition Highlights

Stephan Kesting:

  • Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt
  • Combat Submission Wrestling instructor
  • Featured author in more than 20 martial arts magazine

Stephan Kesting, Grappler and Grapplearts ownerStephan Kesting has been practicing martial arts for 26 years, starting in Judo when he was 12. Since that time he has trained with some of the foremost instructors in North America, including Dan Inosanto, Marcus Soares, Erik Paulson, Philip 'Sled Dog' Gelinas, and many others.

The depth and diversity of Stephan's martial arts training, combined with a talent to teach what he has learned, has resulted in Grapplearts.com. Using professional filming and editing techniques he is now able to share with you his favorite techniques and tactics.

Our goal for our videos is to provide the MAXIMUM amount of information as CLEARLY possible. Here is what we do:
  • We explain and demonstrate techniques to you, incorporating close-ups, 'live-speed' sequences, and tournament footage.
  • We also explore the timing, psychology and strategy of the techniques shown, which is equally important to the technical explanation,. Not every technique is appropriate to every person, opponent or situation.
  • We try to include as much information as possible. We assume that you have a rewind button on your DVD player, and that you would rather use it than have us fill up space with endless slo-mo repeats or other filler
  • We research our material. Each tape is the product of months of thought and research, trying to find the clearest method of presenting the material to you
  • We believe in letting people teach material they are good at. I like spinning back kicks, but am not very good at them. Accordingly I will NEVER personally teach it on a tape. There have been too many video series where the instructor felt that he had to cover EVERY aspect of his subject, including stuff he wasn't good at.
