BJJ has a ton of gi-based techniques, and while not all of them are very street relevant, some people tend to throw out the baby with the bath water.
The bottom line is that many people wear either coats or jackets, especially in the winter or at night. And if your attacker is wearing a potential noose around his neck you’d be a fool not to take advantage of it.
You want to take advantage of that gift… And choke him silly with it!!
After all, choking someone unconcious is the quickest, safest, and most reliable way to victory.
No blood to the brain = no more fight.
In the video below you’ll learn how to get your grips, break your posture, and adapt your lapel chokes to work in a situation where punches are flying.
MORE SELF DEFENSE GUARD INFO
The video above was a clip from The Self Defense Guard course that I put together with BJJ black belt Elliott Bayev.
This is critical information, well organised, and clearly taught.
Plus the amazing thing is that so-called ‘self defense jiu-jitsu’ actually builds an incredibly solid base for sport jiu-jitsu. If you’re doing something that makes sense in the street and keeps you safe from punches then it’s almost always the right thing to do in a sport context as well!
So regardless of what your focus is, you might want to check it out! Click here for more info on The Self Defense Guard!
